When you join and leave a meeting... "Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) said: When one of you comes to a gathering, he should greet (them) with greetings of peace, and if he wishes to leave, he should greet (them) with greetings of peace. The first greeting (when he enters) is not more obligatory than the last greeting (when he leaves). [i.e both the greetings are of equal status]." Abu Dawud # 5208When you participate in a meeting... "Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) said: The (discussions in) gatherings are to be considered as trusts. The participants in a meeting or gathering should act trustworthy about what they see and hear during the meeting." Sahih Jamih # 6678In a group of three people... "Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) said: When there are three people, two (of them) should not hold a private conversation excluding the third (person)." Adabul Mufrad # 1168Shaking hands A person asked: "O Messenger of God! When a person meets his brother or his friend, should he bow to him (as a form of greeting)?" The Prophet replied: "No." The man asked: "Should he embrace him and kiss him (as a form of greeting)?" The Prophet replied: "No." The man continued: "Should he take his hand and shake it (as a form of greeting)?" The Prophet replied: "Yes." Thirmidhi # 2728In a meeting, give your full attention Prophet Muhammad (peace be on him) took a ring and put it on. The Prophet then told his companions: "This ring distracted me from you all day, (making me) shift my gaze towards it and towards you." He then put the ring away.
